Hiyas,

I thought about it for a while and I think we could use a wiki for our 'design specifications'.
First thing would be to document how it was in the original game and then gradually add the stuff we are inventing on the go.

I have set up a Wiki, feel free to contribute if you like this idea.
URL:
http://wiki.sunlightsystems.de
Example:
http://wiki.sunlightsystems.de/index.php?title=City

What do you think?

I've edited the city page a little bit and placed some links to other wiki pages inside the texts (that fact usually drives me away from the main article I want to read in wikipedia)

You can include either mine or the original town screens for screenshots

Only the Garrison and Slave Market are missing from me

Very nice! Thanks!! :)
I have edited it a little bit to name those soon-to-be articles a little bit more clearly. :D

I need to do some more advanced settings in the wiki before I really like it.
We need a better editor and maybe I should include some style sheets and infoboxes as templates.
A nice example can be found in the Minecraft Wiki.
I really like their use of templates - although those are quite nested. :(

I'm not really sure on the original screens but yours should be included of course!
I think we need to make it very clear which content is original and which is additional.

TZoli can you write the
'What is Transarctica?' text?

I would like to use it on the homepage and also on the Wiki.
If you do not know how to use the wiki syntax just put it here into the forum and I will put it onto the 'Home'-Page of the Wiki.

What do you mean?
Like what is the game about?

Yes. When someone who never heard the name 'Transarctica' wants to know what it is all about. :)
Maybe it could begin like this: 'Transarctica is a computer game in a post apocalyptic world in which the player ...' :?

We could need two versions: one which is like 2 sentences long and a teaser for the long version. And a longer version which describes the game rather comprehensive but not with too much detail.
For example: the english wiki is too detailed when it comes to the first sentences in the article but maybe too embellished when it comes to the story.

I am thinking about to put the short version onto this Forum with a link to the the long version on the homepage and into the Wiki.
If you want to get technical in a new, third version this would become the wiki-version :D .

I'm not familiar with Wiki editing.
So the short version:
Transarctica is a Video Game made by the French Company Silmarils in 1993. It was set in Post-Apocalyptic world where the solution to fix for the green-house effect went terribly wrong and now the planet is almost entirely covered in snow and ice. You command a giant steam locomotive to help this White Earth regain it's former self, you can trade, mine and fight other trains.

It should mention elements of the game ('town', 'coal') to link to the appropriate page.

We could also need a 'walkthrough', maybe we can ask somebody who already wrote one to put it on our wiki?
